„From battle to battle in the Archives – Revolutionary time travel for the young and the not so young”
Time: 10.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. 15 March 2013
Venue: Budapest, Bécsi kapu tér 2–4.
The National Archive of the Hungarian National Archives once again invites families on 15 March to join an adventurous time travel, as part of which children of all ages may visit the most significant scenes and may acquaint themselves with the most important events and players of the 1848-1849 Revolution and Freedom Fight together with their parents. This is made possible by the rich collection of documents and bibliographical materials held in archive custody here. Visitors may view some original documents as well, and may learn more about the events by completing some playful activities related to the subject-matter in hand: Can I read Lajos Kossuth’s hand-writing? Can I find my bearings in the 1848 map of Pest-Buda? How many „krajcár” is one forint? Those who visit all the venues of the event will be able to answer these questions correctly.
During the programme, a temporary exhibition dedicated to the military history of the freedom fight and a presentation showcasing 1848 forms may be viewed on the corridors of the Hungarian National Archives. The archives may be visited free of charge between 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on 15 March.
